Classes & levels
What age can my child start?
Our children's and teens' classes are for ages 3½ to 18, and we run adult ballet for ages 16 and up. Every class on our timetable shows its age range. At the trial class the teacher sees where your child is and places them in the right class.
What dance styles do you teach?
In Term 4 2026: Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) ballet from Pre-Primary and Primary through the graded levels to Grade 6, plus the vocational levels Intermediate, Advanced Foundation, Advanced 1 and Advanced 2 by teacher placement; open ballet; Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) and pointe; adult ballet; jazz with APDA exams; contemporary; musical theatre and lyrical; hip hop and breaking; K-pop; and acro, flexibility and conditioning. We also have performance troupes. Chinese dance is offered in our school-holiday programmes. We don't run tap classes.
What's on this term is always on the live timetable.
When does Term 4 2026 start and finish?
Term 4 runs from Monday 12 October to Sunday 13 December 2026 (9 weeks). There are no classes on Labour Day, Monday 26 October. Most weekday classes start from 4pm, Saturday classes run 9:30am–4:30pm and Sunday classes 9:30am–1pm.
How do you decide which class is right for my child?
The teacher places your child at the trial class. Some classes are marked "Audition" on the timetable: places in those are by audition or teacher invitation, so please contact the front desk to arrange an assessment. The RAD vocational levels (Intermediate, Advanced Foundation, Advanced 1 and 2) are also by teacher placement.
Do you have classes for adults?
Yes. In Term 4 2026, Adult Ballet runs on Wednesdays from 10 to 11:30am, for ages 16 and up. Adults can come casually or with a class pass; contact the front desk to join.
Who are the teachers?
Our teaching team includes a Registered RAD Examiner, Meng Cui (Cici). You can meet the whole team on our teachers page.
Trial classes
How do I book a trial class?
Choose a class on our timetable or start on the trial page, then book online. You complete the consent form yourself as part of the booking. Classes marked "Audition" don't take trial bookings: contact the front desk to arrange an assessment instead.
How much does a trial class cost?
A trial costs $23 per hour of class time, with a minimum of $23:
- 45 or 60 minutes: $23
- 75 minutes: $28.75
- 90 minutes: $34.50
- 120 minutes: $46
RAD vocational levels (Intermediate, Advanced Foundation, Advanced 1 and 2) are $30 per hour, with a minimum of $30.
What happens after the trial?
We confirm the right level with you. Then you enrol for the rest of the term on Enrol & pay when online enrolment is open; otherwise we send an invoice for the rest of the term. Your login for the WeDance Pro parent app comes with enrolment.
Enrolling & fees
How do I enrol and pay?
New families start with a trial class. After the trial we confirm the level with you. Then you enrol for the rest of the term on Enrol & pay (card or bank transfer) when online enrolment is open; otherwise we send an invoice for the rest of the term. Families already with us are invoiced by email each term; pay by bank transfer using the invoice number as the reference.
Can we pay per class?
The casual rate is $25 per hour of class time: $25 for a 60-minute class, $37.50 for 90 minutes. RAD vocational levels (Intermediate, Advanced Foundation, Advanced 1 and 2) are $30 per hour. Ask the front desk which classes take casual students.
Is there a discount for several classes a week?
Yes. Families taking several classes a week can ask about our multi-class plan (Semester Card). The current terms and fees are confirmed when you enrol: email admin@wedance.co.nz.
We're starting after the term has begun. What do we pay?
Fees run from the week of your child's first class to the end of term, so the invoice covers only the classes that are left. Once your child has started, missed classes are covered by make-up credits rather than fee reductions.
What is the parent app?
It's WeDance Pro, our own system at wedance.club. Enrolled families log in on any phone or computer to see the timetable, report absences and book make-ups, and view class photos, progress and exam details. Accounts are created when you enrol. More about our technology.
Absences & make-ups
How do I tell you my child will miss a class?
Report it in the parent app any time before the class starts. There's no need to message us.
- Log in at wedance.club and tap "Schedule" at the bottom.
- Find the class and tap "Report absence".
- Choose a reason and tap "Confirm". The class then shows "Absence reported".
Two children? Switch child first (tap the round photo at the top left). Made a mistake? Tap "Cancel absence" on the same class. An absence marked by the teacher without a report from you doesn't count as reported.
How do make-up credits work?
- Each absence you report gives a make-up credit automatically: up to 3 per term for each child on term fees. Credits can't be shared between siblings.
- Semester Card holders can already book any class at their level with a free spot, so they don't need credits.
- If the school cancels a class (for example teacher illness or a public holiday), every enrolled child gets 1 credit, on top of the 3.
- Credits are valid for the current term only and expire at the end of term.
How do I book a make-up class?
Book it yourself in the parent app: pick a class at the same level with a free spot, and the credit is used automatically. No credit left? Your child can still join a make-up at the casual class price (from $25 for a 60-minute class), added to your next invoice.
Do you refund or reduce fees for missed classes?
No. Make-up classes are optional, and once your child has started, classes missed for public holidays, trips, family events, birthdays or a minor illness are covered by make-up credits, not refunds or fee reductions. Two exceptions:
- A whole period away from New Zealand, for example a trip home, is not charged. Let the front desk know the dates.
- Refunds may be granted only for serious illness, injury or bereavement. A medical certificate may be requested, and the school reviews each case.
Uniforms & gear
What does my child wear?
Ballet students wear the WE DANCE uniform: a pink leotard for RAD Pre-Primary and Primary, and a blue leotard for RAD Grades 1–4 (peacock blue for Grades 3–4), with ballet shoes. Please ask us which leotard other levels need. Jazz classes have a WE DANCE jazz uniform. A uniform keeps the class focused on dancing and lets teachers see and correct body lines clearly.
Where can I buy uniforms and dance shoes?
New uniforms and shoes are in our shop. Choose what you need, then pick it up at the front desk at 30A Kell Drive, Albany, during opening hours. We don't post orders yet. Enrolled families can also use the Shop tab in the parent app. For second-hand items, try our pre-loved market.
Can I buy or sell second-hand dancewear?
Yes, on our pre-loved market (舞衣流转, market.wedance.club). Sellers list their own items with photos; buyers reserve online, then meet the seller and pay them directly within 7 days. During the pilot, buying and selling is open to WE DANCE families; anyone can browse. The front desk does not receive or pass on items.
Holiday programmes
Do you run school holiday programmes?
Yes. Our October 2026 programme (Monday 28 September to Friday 9 October) offered RAD exam intensives (Grade 4, Grade 5, Intermediate Foundation and Intermediate), Vaganova ballet technique, Vaganova ballet and contemporary, ballet technique and intensive training, flexibility and acro, and flexibility with Chinese dance. Upcoming programmes are listed on our holiday programmes page when bookings open.
Do families get partner vouchers?
In 2026, families who enrolled in a holiday programme received vouchers from our NZ Alliance partner businesses. Each partner sets its own voucher value and valid dates.
Shows & troupes
Do you have performance troupes and competitions?
Yes. Our jazz, lyrical, contemporary and hip hop troupes compete at Auckland dance competitions. In 2026 our troupes won three first places at Evolution Auckland (Saturday 29 August) and four at Follow Your Dreams Auckland (Sunday 13 September). More about our troupes.
How does my child get into a troupe?
Troupe places are by invitation: teachers invite dancers from our regular classes. The first step is joining a regular class.
When is the next WE DANCE show?
There is no WE DANCE show in 2026. The next show will be in mid-2027 at the earliest. The date will be posted on our Events page once it is set.
RAD exams
Do you teach RAD ballet exams?
Yes. We teach the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus from Pre-Primary to Advanced 2, and a Registered RAD Examiner, Meng Cui (Cici), is on our teaching staff. In the Term 3 2026 exam session our students received 54 results: 74% Distinction or High Distinction, and 100% Merit or above.
When are RAD exam sessions?
Our most recent RAD exam session was on Friday 30 October 2026. Exam dates, times and the venue for each student appear in the parent app under Exams.
