About ballet at WE DANCE
Ballet is the biggest part of our timetable. We teach the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus from Pre-Primary through the graded levels, and the vocational levels (Intermediate, Advanced Foundation, Advanced 1 and Advanced 2) by teacher placement. Our teaching team includes Cici (Meng Cui), a Registered Examiner of the Royal Academy of Dance, who leads our RAD Ballet Examination Programme.
Alongside the RAD classes we run open ballet classes for technique and foundations, Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) Levels 1 to 3, pointe work, and Adult Ballet on Wednesday mornings for ages 16 and up.
In the Term 3 2026 RAD exam session our students received 54 results: 74% Distinction or High Distinction, and 100% Merit or above.
Every new dancer starts with a trial class. The teacher sees your child dance and places them in the right level. Classes marked "Audition" on the timetable are by teacher invitation; contact the front desk to arrange an assessment.
What your child learns
- The RAD ballet syllabus level by level, from Pre-Primary (ages 3½–5) and Primary through Grades 1–6, with preparation for RAD exams
- RAD vocational levels (Intermediate, Advanced Foundation, Advanced 1 and 2) for dancers placed by the teacher
- Ballet technique and foundations in open ballet classes, including classes that combine ballet with flexibility and core work
- Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT), Levels 1 to 3
- Pointe work for more advanced dancers
- Adult Ballet for ages 16 and up, casual or with prepaid credit

Trial classes are $23 per hour of class time, minimum $23 (RAD Intermediate, Advanced Foundation and Advanced 1/2: $30 per hour). At the trial the teacher places your child in the right level.

The RAD vocational levels (Intermediate, Advanced Foundation, Advanced 1 and 2) are also by teacher placement.
How much is a ballet trial class?
A trial costs $23 per hour of class time, with a minimum of $23: $23 for a 45- or 60-minute class, $34.50 for 90 minutes and $46 for 120 minutes. RAD Intermediate, Advanced Foundation, Advanced 1 and Advanced 2 are $30 per hour, with a minimum of $30.
Do you prepare students for RAD exams?
Yes. We teach the RAD syllabus from Pre-Primary to Advanced 2, and a Registered RAD Examiner, Meng Cui (Cici), is on our teaching staff. Our most recent RAD exam session was on Friday 30 October 2026. Each student's exam date, time and venue appear in the parent app under Exams.
What does my child wear to ballet?
The WE DANCE uniform with ballet shoes: a pink leotard for RAD Pre-Primary and Primary, and a blue leotard for RAD Grades 1–4 (peacock blue for Grades 3–4). Please ask us which leotard other levels need. Uniforms and shoes are in our shop, for pick-up at the front desk.
